Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition – will return from August 18 to 20, 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), as US-China trade relations enter a period of tangible easing that presents a significant window of opportunity for the home textiles industry.

US-China Tariff Relief Unlocks New Opportunities

Recent bilateral trade consultations have yielded a breakthrough: both sides have established a reciprocal tariff reduction framework covering at least $30 billion worth of goods, with implementation to proceed in accordance with agreed procedures. The final U.S. tariff reduction list is expected to be announced after July 10, 2026, with a clear focus on "non-strategic" products – primarily consumer electronics, household goods, clothing, footwear, and hats.

Home textiles stand to be among the core beneficiaries. Knitted and woven fabrics and home textile products, which previously faced combined tariffs of up to 55% on exports to the U.S., are expected to see duties fall to below 20% following the adjustment. The textile and apparel sector has already responded positively: in May 2026, textile and garment exports reached $25.61 billion, up 6.4% month-on-month, with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles explicitly attributing the rebound to easing US-China trade relations. On July 2, the textile and apparel sector saw a wave of limit-up stock surges on the back of the $30 billion tariff cut consensus.

Asia’s Premier Home Textiles Sourcing Hub

Positioned as a "Global Home Furnishings Sourcing Platform" with a focus on "Premium Decorative Fabrics & Quality Export Products," the 2026 Autumn Edition will span over 100,000 sqm across four halls, featuring nearly 1,000 leading domestic and international brands. Over 60,000 professional buyers from more than 100 countries and regions are expected to attend.

12 specialized product zones will cover the full spectrum of home textiles: bedding, curtains and window treatments, upholstery and sofa fabrics, carpets and rugs, home soft furnishings, home textile fabrics and accessories, functional textiles, contract fabrics, and smart home textiles. A new Home Textiles Lifestyle Zone debuts this year, bringing together complementary categories such as carpets, wallpaper, aromatherapy, and home accessories – reflecting the growing integration between home textiles and broader lifestyle products.

Global Buyer Participation Set to Reach New Heights

With US-China business visas restored to 5-year multiple-entry and direct flights doubled, international participation is poised for a further surge. The 2025 Autumn Edition already welcomed over 35,000 trade buyers from 116 countries and regions, with international visitors growing 55.6% year-on-year. Overseas visitor numbers have increased for three consecutive years.

For 2026, the fair has invited over 500 VIP buyers from 88 countries and regions, covering international retail giants, contract suppliers, trading purchasers, and department stores. Buyer delegations from Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and emerging markets including Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa are expected.

Trend Forum and Concurrent Events

The fair will present the 2027 trend theme "BREATHE UP!", developed in collaboration with leading international trend forecaster NellyRodi™ Agency. A joint team of Chinese and overseas designers will bring the concept to life through immersive installations, exploring three core directions: RE-DECORATE (celebrating expressive interiors), RE-CONNECT (embracing mindful, restorative spaces), and RE-USE (highlighting circular thinking and sustainable innovation).

Concurrent events will center on four themes – "Design Pioneers," "Industry Integration," "Green Circularity," and "Tech Innovation" – featuring trend forums, design summits, sustainability seminars, and B2B matchmaking sessions.

A Critical Platform at a Pivotal Moment

"The international presence at the fair continues to grow, with overseas visitors increasing for three consecutive years," said Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. "The fair has become crucial for the industry – not only for building relationships, but also for gaining insights into innovative trends, showcasing products, and inspiring future product development that could shape market directions".

The global home textiles market is projected to reach $220.2 billion by 2032, growing at a 6.8% CAGR (2025–2032). Against the backdrop of US-China trade détente and significant tariff relief on the horizon, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition 2026 offers an unparalleled platform for global buyers and suppliers to connect, source, and capture emerging opportunities in the world’s most dynamic home textiles market.
